Meet Our Staff

Dave Sr started the agency in May 1982 as a scratch agent for Erie Insurance. He holds a BA from UMD, College Park where he met his wife and business partner, Sandi. Prior to starting his own agency he was a sales professional for Liberty Mutual, and then for a life insurance brokerage. Before he stepped into the insurance field, he was recruited as a manager for a Merchants Tire & Auto retail shop. In May 1982 he and Sandi opened up David Stump Insurance Agency, or “Stump Insurance” an Independent Agency in their residence home in Poolesville MD. Raising their five children was a whirlwind of school and sports and schedules. Dave was always there on the sidelines cheering. He and Sandi now share the delight that accompanies six grandchildren. With 35 years as an independent insurance agent representing more than 7 outstanding insurance companies among 9 states , Dave Sr says he thanks God for the daily privilege to work with his wife, Sandi, son, Dave Jr (since 2005), and daughter, Marie (since 2009), to continue to provide customer service and insurance sales to the clients of Stump Insurance.

Sandi left her high school teaching profession to join her husband, Dave Sr, as a licensed insurance agent to start up the agency in 1982. She actively sells and services personal and business insurance. She has been instrumental in spearheading agency advancements, from acquiring carrier appointments and state licensing, agency technology and systems, to marketing and accounting strategies. As agency Vice President, she is never too busy to roll up her sleeves to take on the detail required to provide product options and pricing comparisons while offering outstanding customer service to Stump Insurance prospects and clients. As an insurance professional since 1982, and mother to five adults, and grandmother to six, she is sage and seasoned. She loves family, and she says she loves working with her Stump Team to nurture professionalism and to protect and serve the clients of Stump Insurance.

Dave became a licensed insurance agent at the age of 18 and worked at Stump Insurance during the summers while attending UMD, College Park. Dave is a leading producer of David Stump Insurance Agency, Inc., selling and servicing Personal and Commercial Lines products as a Property & Casualty and Life Agent in the Tri State Region. After graduating in 2003 with a BA at the University of Maryland, Cum Laude, Dave worked for the Federal Government as a police officer until he joined Stump Insurance in 2005. Throughout this time, he has contributed both to agency production volume, as well as, to agency marketing advances. Working with his family daily, Dave relishes the important responsibility of protecting other families and their investments. Dave has earned the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). As a resident of Frederick County, Maryland, Dave is very active in the community with his wife, Annie, daughter Reagan and son Benjamin. Dave is a die-hard Terps football and basketball fan.

Marie worked at Stump Insurance during the summers while attending UMD, College Park, and graduated suma cum laude with a BS in psychology. Marie, a licensed agent since 2006, became an integral part of the agency as a Property & Casualty and Life producer in 2009. She contributes daily in many areas of agency management and in customer service. Marie has achieved the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. Enjoying her home in a newer community in Gaithersburg, Maryland, she and her husband Bobby are raising their son, Gabriel. They love boating and enjoy their weekend adventures cruising the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and inlets.
